30 Years a Filker

esmegreySo, for those who don't know, back in college is when I got into online communities, and met many wonderful people in the comics and X-Men fandom, whom I am still friends with today. I dropped out of college though, and the night before going home, I stayed up VERY late, because I did not have internet back home, and had no idea when I would see these people again. If ever.
I had been noodling on a kernel of an idea for a song parody of Elmo and Patsy's "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and with the help of a few others, we banged out the song. It was the very last thing I posted from college, and it turns 30 years old this month. I uh...forgot to post on the actual day, but close enough.
I post it regularly around the internet, but this will be the first time it shows up here on Dreamwidth. So, without further adieu...

Here's the holiday classic "Cyclops Got Run Over by His Ex-Wife" by yours truly, mindset, and dkphoenix. And CRETIN, wherever he is. Sung to the tune of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" by Elmo and Patsy. Duh.

Cyclops got run over by his ex-wife,
Patrolling 'round the mansion Christmas Eve,
You may say there's no such thing as cloning,
But as for me and Essex, we believe.
He'd been swigging down his eggnog,
And we begged him not to go,
But Scott (that dork)'s so dedicated,
So he wobbled out the door into the snow.
When we found him Christmas morning,
At the scene of the attack,
There were claw-marks on his forehead,
And Infernal-looking symbols on his back.

Well, we're all so proud of Cable,

And we just can't help but wonder,
Should we go to Sinister and clone him back?
